Demographic Transition
- Thailand is most likely on stage four of the Demographic Transition Model. The country has a low birth rate, which shows that there is education for women and has the use family planning. The death rate is low, which means that people are using advanced medical care, and a living a pretty healthy lifestyle.
Population Situation
- One factor that has contributed to the population growth situation in Thailand is that "the government-funded family planning program has raised awareness and led to a dramatic fall in birth figures. In 1960, the population growth was at its height with figures of around 3.1% but this has fallen to around 0.4% today" says WorldPopulationReview.com. Another factor is that fertility rates in women are very low. The average number of children born to an individual woman dropped from 6 to 2 in less than 20 years (WorldPopulationReview). Another factor to Thailand's population situation is AIDS. There is said to be around 700,000 Thais that have HIV or AIDS. Fatalities related to these diseases range from 30,000 to 50,000 every year.Urbanization is also another contribution to the population growth situation. Urbanization in Thailand is mostly concentrated around the capital, Bangkok. (WorldPopulationReview) The increasing rate of women having professional job positions and access to a higher education. Also, more than half of university graduates are women. These things are also factors that contribute to Thailand's population growth situation. (Howard)
Impact of Population Situation on People and Environment
- One impact of the population situation on people and the environment in Thailand is the growing demand for natural resources because of urbanization. With growing populations in a city like Bangkok, a higher demand for water becomes a problem, especially when most of the water in Thailand is not clean. (Napoli). Another impact is that there is a lack of young people for future employment because of low birth rates and fertility. The total dependency ratio is also impacted by the current population situation.

Migration:
- Immigration is more common than emigration in Thailand. Reasons for emigration are looking for better incomes and economic conditions in other countries. Reasons for immigration are economic, social, and political hardships in the country immigrants are coming from. (Wikipedia).
